Diego Laxalt has been labelled a ‘total dud’ by a Polish website after his loan stint with Celtic.

Something may have been lost in translation but after 26 appearances for the hoops not too many Celtic fans would dispute that description.

Laxalt started and ended his Celtic career playing in the Glasgow derby with his arrival coinciding with a shocking loss of form as the hoops lost four successive home matches to crash out of the Europa League and Betfred Cup.

Picking up on a story from Italy, Pilkarskiswiat reports:

Diego Laxalt’s stay in Celtic turned out to be a total dud. The footballer’s home club AC Milan is planning to sell the defender this summer.

Diego Laxalt in October last year was loaned to Scottish Celtic. Unfortunately, he did not manage to appear at Parkhead, playing only 13 games in the Scottish Premiership. The Uruguayan, after the end of the season, returned to his home club, with which he has a contract until 2022.

However, the defender may not wait for the contract to end. The player is not part of Stefano Pioli’s plans because, as reported by the Italian website Milanlive.it, the authorities want to sell him.

Laxalt shared the left-back slot with Greg Taylor during the season, starting off impressing with his aggression going forward but that soon proved to be a defensive liability.

At Ibrox in April he was replaced at half-time with Celtic trailing 2-0 in what proved to be his final appearance for the hoops, a run that produced one goal, away to Hibs in November.

The 28-year-old Uruguayan has a year left on his AC Milan contract.
