Celtic ARE in discussions to bring in Gordon Strachan as a Technical Director.

The Story first appeared in The Sun late on Saturday night but was dismissed during Sunday by The Scotsman who claimed that their information came from ‘a club source’.

With Peter Lawwell just over a week away from retirement and Nick Hammond quitting as Head of Football Operations in March there is an obvious vacuum in football know-how to complete deals and network in transfer circles.

There is less than a month to go until Celtic face Midtjylland in a Champions League qualifier with Ange Postecoglou battling against time to put a recognisable team on the park.

In the Daily Mail, Stephen McGowan explains:

New boss Ange Postecoglou arrives in Glasgow to start work this week after quarantining in London, and Christie’s future is one of a number of issues to be resolved at the club, who are talking to former manager Gordon Strachan about a technical director role.

Strachan has remained close to the Celtic hierarchy since stepping down as manager in 2009, last summer his son Gavin joined another son Craig on the payroll as first team coach. Over the last 14 years Craig has been promoted to head up Celtic’s European and UK scouting.

Should Celtic appoint Gordon Strachan as Technical Director

Yes, a far sighted, enlightened choice

No way, this is wrong in so many ways

While the job will hold appeal to Gordon his appointment would make life difficult for his two sons who are effectively in the front line of how Celtic operate.
