Brendan Rodgers is preparing to put in a bid for Ryan Christie.

The Leicester City boss sanctioned two loan moves for the midfielder to Aberdeen when he was in charge of Celtic then watched his hoops career kick off four months before he suddenly quit the club in February 2019.

Christie’s departure from Celtic seems inevitable this summer with the Rodgers Factor clearly a big element in his decision making.

In the Daily Mail, McGowan reveals:

Despite having an £8million bid for Christie turned down in January, Nice have revived their interest, with Ligue One rivals Monaco also believed to be chasing the midfielder.

Sportsmail understands, however, that former Celtic boss Rodgers is ready to try for his second Celtic player of the window after being frustrated in his pursuit of Odsonne Edouard.

McGowan tends to know more than most about Celtic matters with a track record going back over more than a decade.

Rodgers didn’t appear to be impressed by Christie when he sanctioned his loan move to Aberdeen in January 2017 with that move repeated for the whole of the 2017/18 season.

In two full seasons at Leicester Rodgers has delivered two near misses for Champions League qualification, last month Leicester lifted the FA Cup for the first time in their history.

While Celtic’s season fell apart under Neil Lennon, Rodgers earned praise at Leicester for the way that his side played, the scouting of players and general improvement in their play with less reliance on the goals of Jamie Vardy.
