Celtic have indicated that they won’t be any pushover in the transfer market by rejecting two £10m bids for Kris Ajer.

The defender has stated that he thinks that it would be beneficial for him and for Celtic if he is sold this summer.

With 12 months left to run on the contract that he signed in 2018 there is a danger that Ajer could leave for nothing next summer with Celtic experiencing that scenario with Dedryck Boyata two years ago.

Despite Celtic’s horrendous fall from grace last season Ajer was one of the few players to emerge with credit in the eyes of supporters.

As a regular in the Norwegian national side and with the examples of Kieran Tierney and Virgil van Dijk in mind Celtic are hoping to cash in on Ajer who will ultimately have the final say on where he is playing football on September 1- after the transfer window closes.

The Athletic reports:

Kristoffer Ajer’s hopes of securing a move away from Celtic this summer are in jeopardy — and the centre-back is believed to be distinctly unhappy about it, The Athletic understands.

The 23-year-old Norway international has been the subject of £10 million bids from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen and Premier League new boys Norwich City so far this summer, both of which were rejected by Celtic.

With Chris Jullien recovering from knee surgery Stephen Welsh and Nir Bitton are the only central defenders currently available to Ange Postecoglou- plus Ajer.
