Bologna are reported to be looking for 5 million euros ‘to get them started’ discussing a transfer for Aaron Hickey.
Celtic have been strongly linked with the 19-year-old defender but may find that sort of fee a stretch.
Hickey left the Celtic Academy in the summer of 2018 for Hearts and found himself in the first team by the end of his debut season, playing against Celtic in the final of the Scottish Cup.
Since then there has been constant links of Celtic looking to bring him back to Glasgow but the price tag continues to escalate.
Published this morning, Viola (Fiorentina’s nickname) News reports:
This is what we can read in today’s edition of La Nazione on the deal for the Scottish exterior:
In the last few hours the contacts between Bologna and Fiorentina have intensified to verify the possibility for the viola to reach the defender Aaron Hickey , the Scotsman born in 2002 who played 12 games with the rossoblù, but who showed interesting talents. On him there would also be Celtic Glasgow, intending to bring him back to his homeland. For his part, Sinisa Mihajlovic would like to continue the path started with him, but in the face of an offer of no less than 5 million, Bologna could get him started.
Greg Taylor and Boli Bolingoli are currently with Celtic in Wales but it seems unlikely that the Belgian has anything beyond a short-term future with Celtic.
Hickey can play in either full back position but at 5 million euros starting fee it might be too high for the hoops forcing Ange Postecoglou to look elsewhere with less than a fortnight to go until the Champions League qualifier against Midtjylland.
