Norwich City are reported to be preparing a £12m bid for Kris Ajer.

The defender spoke out last month about his desire to play in a top five league with the newly promoted Canaries just about ticking that box.

A year after strong speculation suggesting a move to AC Milan was possible going to Norwich would be quite a step down for the Norwegian.

In 2015, a year before Ajer joined Celtic, Virgil van Dijk moved to Southampton but three years later he was playing in the Champions League Final with Southampton and Liverpool delighted by the business that they completed.

Looking at Ajer’s situation, the Daily Record reports:

Norwich City are set go back in with a renewed £12 million bid for Kristoffer Ajer. The newly-promoted Premier League side has already had a number of bids rejected, as have German side Bayer Leverkusen, for the Norwegian international.

The Canaries have made a central defender a priority and Ajer has been a long-term target. They are ready to make a bid with future add-ons built in.

Ajer, 23, is in the last year of his contract and Celtic will need to sell in this window if they want to maximise their return, having bought the Norwegian international for a bargain six figure fee in 2016 from IK Start.

The sales of Jeremie Frimpong, Patryk Klimala and Hatem Abd Elhamed helped Celtic to balance the books in terms of transfers for the 20/21 season.

A fee of £12m looks more attractive than holding on to a reluctant player through Champions League qualifiers with that fee able to go towards reshaping the squad towards Ange Postecoglou’s liking.
