Sampdoria have been linked with a ‘shock move’ for Ryan Christie although it doesn’t seem like a bid is imminent.

With his contract expiring in January the midfielder will have a major say in his own future but the weeks before the transfer window closes will be tricky to negotiate.

and David Turnbull are options for Christie’s preferred ‘number 10’ position with making it clear that he only wants to deal with players committed to the club.

A year ago Christie was viewed as one of ’s top assets but like most of his team-mates the 20/21 season was one best forgotten.

With injured in September ’s lack of wide options saw Christie shuttled out onto the right where he preferred to cut inside rather than overlap.

His poor form continued into the European Championships where he managed 45 minutes in the opener against the then watched ’s remaining matches from the sidelines.
