Celtic have been credited with an interest in M’baye Niang.

The 26-year-old spent last season on loan at Saudi side Al Ahli Jeddah with Rennes believed to be keen to pick up a transfer fee before his contract expires next summer.

Niang has played for AC Milan, Torino, Watford and Genoa with Rennes splashing out 15m euros to sign him from Torino in 2019.

Even though he is expected to leave during this transfer window Odsonne Edouard started for Celtic against Midtjylland on Tuesday but his unconvincing display said as much about Albian Ajeti and Leigh Griffiths as it did about the French striker.

TRANSLATE: As reported in Italy, the Italian team from Venezia is very very hot on M’baye Niang for a dry transfer. Fenerbahce, Celtic Glasgow and Shanghai Greenland are interested in the Rennes striker but to a lesser degree.

Following 15 months of uncertainty the transfer market has yet to settle with clubs uncertain over future income streams.

Celtic have discovered that with Edouard with only tentative reports of interest in the striker who has become the top scorer for the French u-21 side.

Kyogo Furuhashi does have a decent scoring record but Ange Postecoglou will be looking to increase his striking options regardless of whether Edouard stays or moves on.
