Celtic fans found crumbs of comfort from Chris Sutton following the 6-2 slaughter from West Ham.

Pitching Dane Murray in against Michail Antonio was always going to be a risky policy, at right-back Ange Postecoglou had a player that made one appearance last season while watching Jonjoe Kenny go through the motions. On the other side Greg Taylor often played second fiddle last season to Diego Laxalt.
The full fall-out from last season’s disaster has still to settle down before Ange Postecoglou gets to rebuild the squad, for now the new manager is largely being excused but selecting Vasilis Barkas could see that alter.
After announcing a managerial review last December there has been a complete lack of urgency from the Celtic board, it seems that they had pinned their hopes on the return of fans transforming the fortunes of a squad that perhaps has five or six players worth retaining.
The enormity of the rebuild seems to have escaped them, comforted by the sale of over 40,000 Season Tickets.
Fans returning presents a very different proposition for the board, further failure in line with last season won’t be so easily swept aside if thousands of demanding customers are watching every step, unlike last season.
