Ibrox social media accounts have been in uproar over the transfer fee that Brentford have paid for Kris Ajer.

Fees of between £13-18m have been quoted, the sort of numbers you could only dream about winning at a live casino, which seems reasonable for a 23-year-old current internationalist that has picked up nine domestic medals over the last few years.

Transfer fees are very rarely published but there is a general release of a ball-park figure. The Ajer fee confirms to Brentford fans that their club is investing while Celtic have a tidy sum for new manager Ange Postecoglou to rebuild with.

With Kieran Tierney, Stuart Armstrong and Virgil van Dijk more than cutting it in England clubs know the quality that they are getting from Celtic.

Since his first transfer window the Ibrox club have been trying to get ‘Dembele Dollars’ for Alfredo Morelos despite there being no interest in the striker with extreme disciplinary issues.

After selling Josh Windass to Wigan in 2018 for £1.6m the Ibrox club have only brought in token fees for players such as Greg Docherty, Young McCrory and Jamie Murphy.

The more that they hype Morelos the less likely they are to find a buyer. A fee of £6-8m would be a nice profit on Morelos but talking up £30m plus hasn’t really worked.

Since the huffy Colombian arrived at Ibrox Celtic have made £70m from the transfers of Moussa Dembele, Tierney, Jeremie Frimpong and Ajer. It seems that those figures are causing extreme distress among Ibrox fans.

No announcement has been made on the recent Ibrox share issue aimed at raising £6.5m for the loss-making company.
