Ange Postecoglou has drawn back from his transfer comments following Celtic’s Champions League knock-out from Midtjylland.

The new manager only had one new signing, Liel Abada in his side to face the Danes with the Israeli the first player to be substituted with James Forrest taking his place.

‘Obviously I haven’t done a good enough job convincing people we need to bring people in’ was the tell tale quote from Postecoglou following the defeat.

Almost two days on from defeat in Denmark and the Australian was much more diplomatic.

1 minute 10 seconds:

I don’t think that me having talks with Dom is the issue. I talk to Dom every day and he’s working as hard as anybody to get players through the door.

I think that we’ve made progress, I’m still pushing it from my end to make sure that we try and get them in as quickly as possible because as we know its not just a case of getting them in to sign and agree, there’s a whole range of other things that we need to navigate to get them into the club.

Again, I’m pushing as hard as I can, everyone in the club, including Dom, is doing everything that they can to make sure that we can conclude deals in the next short period.

Who else is involved in recruitment beyond McKay is something of a mystery, one report in midweek claimed that Dermot Desmond had taken on a significant role.

Carl Starfelt is out of quarantine and will soon be joined by Kyogo Furuhashi but no transfer business has been concluded since Starfelt’s move was announced soon after Kris Ajer’s transfer to Brentford.

Celtic remain weak in every area of the pitch with Postecoglou unable to push fitness training while he has a core of no more than 14 players that he can trust to start competitive matches.
