Ange Postecoglou wasn’t prepared to discuss Kris Ajer after the defender missed Celtic’s 1-0 defeat from Preston North End.
Brentford have been strongly linked with Ajer over the last week but have still to get a deal over the line.
Ajer was Celtic’s most reliable defender last season but two days before the Champions League qualifier against Midtjylland he has yet to be involved in any of the four friendlies played under Postecoglou.
Asked if Ajer was bound for Brentford, the Celtic boss told the Daily Record:
I’m not thinking about that stuff. The guys who are going to leave will leave, that’s not my department. I’m concentrating on what’s in front of me.
He wasn’t involved today. I’m concentrating on the ones who are involved. I can’t afford to waste time on anyone other than the ones who are here and committed to being here.
Stephen Welsh and Osaze Urhoghide started yesterday’s match with Dane Murray and Leo Hjelde finishing up in the central defensive positions.
Nir Bitton played last Saturday against Charlton but hasn’t featured in the two matches played since.
Celtic appear close to signing Carl Starfelt from Rubin Kazan but the immediate priority is Midtjylland with Postecoglou likely to be forced into playing a very youthful side.
