Ange Postecoglou faces an anxious wait over the fitness of Odsonne Edouard.

The striker was replaced in the closing minutes of Saturday’s 2-1 win over Charlton as the hoops gear up for their Champions League qualifier against Midtjylland on July 20.

Last season injury ruled Edouard out of the match against Ferencvaros that saw Celtic crash into the Europa League with Neil Lennon starting the match without a striker.

Albian Ajeti appears to be in contention to be part of the First XI but the injury to Edouard is one that Celtic could do without.

Postecoglou told The Sun:

He just felt his quad a bit tight. I was speaking to him there and I don’t think it is anything serious. It was just a precaution for him. He probably wanted to make sure he don’t do any real damage to it. It’s too early to tell for Wednesday’s game.

Celtic play Bristol City on Wednesday then host Preston North End before the action gets real against Midtjylland in the second round Champions League qualifier.

Other than Osaze Urhoghide no players have been bought since Postecoglou took up the job a month ago.
