Norwich City appear to be close to testing Celtic’s resolve over Kris Ajer.

According to the Sunday Post a bid in excess of £10m is on the way for the defender with a year left on his contract.

Twelve months ago Celtic could have hoped to pick up double that fee but the impact of Lockdown, the timing on his contract and Celtic’s failings last season have changed the landscape.

Clearing £10m for Ajer once FK Start have had their sell-on clause honoured should be a golden opportunity for Celtic to reinvest with their entire defence needing recast.

The Sunday Post claims:

Norwich City are set to pose Ange Postecoglou the first big managerial question of his Celtic career.

Canaries boss Daniel Farke has been keen on the Hoops’ Norwegian internationalist Kristoffer Ajer for the best part of six months.

Now, flush from his success in getting Billy Gilmour signed up on loan, he is keen to steal a march on Ajer’s other admirers, Newcastle and Bayer Leverkusen, by tabling a bid in excess of £10 million.

Such a figure would give Celtic’s new manager a decision to make.

Ajer was due back at Lennoxtown over the weekend after getting an extended break due to international commitments with Norway.

With just over two weeks to go until Celtic face Midtjylland in a Champions League qualifier Ange Postecoglou and Dom McKay have a big decision to take if the Norwich speculation turns into a concrete offer.
