Ange Postecoglou’s whirlwind will step up a gear or two throughout a frantic Monday.

The new hoops boss will assess his injured players, take a training session and face the media against a backdrop of two draws within an hour.

The visit of Midtjylland will obviously be the priority but it is only human nature to keep an eye out for what happens next with two very distinct options.

At the moment look to have at best a 50-50 chance of getting past the Danes into the third qualifying round of the Champions League. The group phase looked a million miles away from the fare on offer against North End of Saturday.

There are a few ifs but if get past the Danes and have Furuhashi, and two others on board they could carry a little momentum and confidence into the third round as the group stage becomes more realistic.

On the other hand if things don’t go well against the Danes the might be a more realistic level for a new look side to find their feet in continental action.
