Ange Postecoglou won’t be hanging Joe Hart and Carl Starfelt out to dry.

Boosted by Kyogo Furuhashi’s third minute goal in Alkmaar the hoops looked set to cruise through into the group stage of the Europa League.

Before the half hour mark Alkmaar were back in the contest thanks to self-inflicted wounds from Hart and Starfelt.

It was a reminder of how far Celtic still have to go as a team with the two offenders making their debuts less than a month ago.

Postecoglou remained impassive throughout the 90 plus minutes, after the final whistle he told the The Sun:

They were two pretty terrible errors but I guess that’s what happens. They are two human beings, they are going to make mistakes. What was more important for me was what we did after and how we reacted.

Joe was obviously disappointed with the first half mistake. But he made a couple of outstanding saves. Carl defended really strongly in the second half. Both of those players recovered from those errors and went on to contribute to our victory.

Celtic have five more days to complete any transfer business with Josip Jurnanovic waiting on his debut but there was little sign of Tony Ralston waiting to step aside.

Postecoglou has been consistent in his media interviews over the need for additional signings, as it stands it appears that the Celtic boss currently has a squad that doesn’t stretch beyond 15 or 16 players.
