Keith Jackson has highlighted John Lundstram’s comments on the mystery C*vid cases at Ibrox.

The EPL powerhouse gave the game away in an interview with Sky Sports ahead of his laboured performance in the 1-0 defeat from Dundee United at Tannadice on Saturday.

With most news outlets backing away from the £25,000 charge to ask fawning questions of Mister Gerrard it was a golden opportunity to jump all over a news story.

The Ibrox club, alone in UK football, haven’t reported a single positive test, going through last season with a full squad while opponents were near crippled at times with players and coaches having to self-isolate.

BBC Scotland and others have bodyswerved the Lundstram comments, typically there has been no comment from the SFA or the SPFL.

After covering a variety of other issues in his Daily Record column, Jackson writes:

Lundstram’s laissez faire approach to keeping the back door shut cost Rangers an opening goal in Sweden and he switched off again on Saturday when he ignored the run of Jamie Robson as the full-back burst through to poke home the winner.

Why did Gerrard send Lundstram back out for the second half when it was obvious the Englishman was so far off the pace that he was in danger of being lapped by United’s midfield?

Gerrard waited for more than hour before replacing Lundstram with Scott Wright – but by then he’d left his team in the lurch.

Talking of dropping people in it, what exactly was Lundstram alluding to before the game when he referred to three c*vid cases and blamed them for disrupting pre-season preparations?

What C*vid cases are these and why are Rangers fans only finding out about them now, courtesy of a flash interview with a recent arrival who may have been saying more than the club would have liked him to?

Gerrard will enjoy another media conference this morning in front of the fawning Ibrox media outlets.
