The pandemic has finally reached Ibrox- a year after other clubs suffered multiple positive tests with close contacts also forced to self-isolate.

Last October Ryan Christie was deemed to be a close contact of Stuart Armstrong and forced to miss a Glasgow derby. Kieran Tierney was also reported as a close contact but Arsenal ignored the SFA and played the defender while Tierney missed out.

No positive tests were reported throughout last season at Ibrox but tonight the club announced:

RANGERS can confirm that during our testing schedule, we have received positive C*VID-19 tests.

Those identified as positive are now in self isolation along with ‘close contacts’.

We have followed best practice in our procedures and protocols. From the outset of the pandemic, Rangers has worked closely with the Scottish Government and Scottish football to ensure the health of our staff is protected at all times. We will continue to do so.

On Sunday it is believed that just two coaches were used to take the players to Dingwall to face Ross County.

It will be very obvious from the squad pictures travelling to Armenia who has been withdrawn from the squad to face Real Alashkert on Thursday.

Whoever is in charge will then take their depleted squad home for Sunday’s match against Celtic which kicks off at 12 noon at Ibrox.

Kevin Clancy will referee Sunday’s match with John Beaton as fourth official.
