A week after the sudden departure of Dom McKay Celtic have announced that Chris Duffy has been appointed as Secretary.

That vacancy arose following the promotion of Michael Nicholson to acting CEO with Duffy already registered at Companies House as the Secretary of Celtic Pools.

On Linkedin Duffy describes himself as:

Commercially minded in-house solicitor specialising in the areas of Sports, Media, Technology and Entertainment with particular experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.

As well as his Celtic Pools role he has been Celtic Company Solicitor since February 2017, reporting to Nicholson who until last Friday was Company Secretary.

After a weekend of speculation and suggestions of briefings to favoured reporters there has been no comment coming from Celtic about the future direction of the club.

McKay’s 72 day reign coincided with a hectic period in the transfer market that saw 12 players brought in while delivering another surplus in transfer fees.

Beyond the statement on McKay’s departure there has been no comment from Nicholson who had been club Secretary since 2013.

With Duffy appointed as Secretary it looks like Nicholson is in for a lengthy spell as acting CEO, possibly longer than the 72 days that McKay lasted in the job.
