After 72 days in the job Dominic McKay has resigned as CEO of Celtic, his predecessor, Peter Lawwell was in place for almost 18 years.

McKay shadowed Lawwell for two months before taking charge with his start date of July 1, prior to that he had been involved in the appointment of Ange Postecoglou, travelling to London to help the new manager settle in while in quarantine.

Personal reasons were given for today’s announcement with a long term Lawwell appointment, Michael Nicholson taking over as acting CEO.

Nicholson has worked closely with the SFA down the years as the club was easily fobbed off while apparently questioning the 2011 UEFA licence that saw a club with overdue tax payments put forward for a Champions League place at Celtic’s expense.

Ian Bankier also commented on McKay’s departure, the chairman will now be working with his third CEO in a year.

McKay left the Scottish Rugby Union to take up the Celtic job, a position that he had long aspired to. Despite his communications background he kept a very low profile in the job, his only media interview was alongside Postecoglou when both men were presented as the new faces of the club.
