Last week Ian Bankier signed off Celtic’s annual report by assuring shareholders that the club is in good hands.

With the clock ticking towards the AGM the hoops chairman will be hoping that results improve quickly if he isn’t to face a winter of discontent from fans inside the stadium.

Since the appointment of Brendan Rodgers in May 2016 it is difficult to recall a decision by the club hierarchy that has been broadly welcomed.

When the Irishman left less than halfway through his new extended contract the warning signs were there, two and a half years later it seems that Bankier and his fellow directors are still in denial.

The processes that installed Neil Lennon and Ange Postecoglou seem questionable, one was the caretaker appointed in the Hampden showers while the other was quickly head-hunted once it became clear that Eddie Howe wasn’t interested in taking on a massive rebuild funded by selling off the best players.

Since Rodgers arrived the club has cashed in on Moussa Dembele, Kieran Tierney, Stuart Armstrong, Jeremie Frimpong, Kris Ajer and Odsonne Edouard. Even the most optimistic fan would struggle to identify a £10m player in the current squad.

Postecoglou will be in the media spotlight today as he tries to look at Bayer Leverkusen with a domestic storm gathering over a record of picking up 10 points from 21.

Behind the scenes more and more fans are realising that there are far bigger problems and issues in the boardroom than in the dug-out and dressing room.

Well this website and many others spent two years haranguing Brendan Rodgers after he left.
Turns out that he was right after all.
He foresaw the collapse from within and wanted no part of it.
While we all felt betrayed by the manner of his leaving it is clear now that he saw the downsizing in every department the club barring merchandise.
Scouting and recruitment is a joke and the medical science is even worse. We can’t keep players fit and some of the players that do play you wish would pick up a knock.

Five years ago today we drew 3-3 with Man city. A great European night that we should have been repeated time and time again. Instead of this our board have downsized our team to a level that great great nights in Europe are out of reach.
As I said previously we need to unite. Blogs like this have the power to get the message out there. Desmond and his cronies have taken the club backwards and continue to do it. No DOF, other departments such as scouting are not filled properly let alone with quality. A shambles and they need to get the message Keep up the momentum on making Desmond and his cronies accountable for the shambles we are.

    I agree with you Jim.
Unity is the answer and the blogs need to get the message out.
Normally it is good when we sign players like Calum up on a long deal, but we have seen recently that when this happens the p,Ayer is often then sold a a big profit.
The board are NOT helping to build a squad.
