When the draw came out it looked like being the group of green. Celtic were joined by the greens of Spain in Real Betis and Ferencvaros from Hungary. In the red corner was Bayer Leverkusen.

Kit changes have become somewhat contrived in recent years, for no good reason Celtic and Hibs can’t play each other wearing their first-choice shirts.

UEFA has taken things a few steps further down the road with neither Celtic or Betis in their traditional colours tonight. A similar decision looks likely for the matches against Ferencvaros.

Tonight’s ‘Battle of the Greens’ from Seville will actually be the Blues v Whites as Celtic slip into their third choice white kit with alternating green and pink pinstripes. That kit hasn’t sold in anything like the numbers of the bold dark green second choice.

Wearing the white kit will be a new look Celtic side- without Callum McGregor, Kyogo Furuhashi, Liel Abada and Greg Taylor for the first time this season. James McCarthy and Adam Montgomery could make their first starting appearances of the season.
