Twenty months on from travelling to Copenhagen, Celtic fans look like having a European away day to look forward to next month.

Celtic have played four European away matches this season with just a handful of locals supporting the hoops but the club is on course to pick up an allocation of tickets for the match with Bayer Leverkusen on November 25.

UEFA imposed a blanket ban on away supporters at this season’s qualifiers meaning that Celtic fans missed out on the matches against Midtjylland, Jablonec and AZ Alkmaar.

Initially an allocation was made available for the group stage opener away to Real Betis but a change in circumstances saw that offer withdrawn although a few hundred fans took the opportunity to return to Seville with a few imaginative types getting inside the stadium.

No away fans will be allowed against Ferencvaros on November 4 but the long wait should be over for the fifth group match, away to Leverkusen three weeks later.
