Stephen Welsh captains the Scotland u-21 side against Denmark at Tynecastle tonight.

The arrival of Cameron Carter-Vickers has eased him out of the Celtic side but he’ll continue as Scotland captain having taken on that role last month away to Turkey.

Scotland drew that match 1-1 while the Danes beat Kazakhstan with Belgium at the top of Group I with wins over Turkey and the Kazaks.

Adam Montgomery is also in tonight’s side, starting in left midfield ahead of Josh Doig but there is no place for Dane Murray who is included in the squad.

Next month Scotland host Kazakhstan and Belgium with that run of three home matches giving Scot Gemmill’s side the chance to build on the point taken in Turkey.

Welsh only made his u-21 debut at the end of last season but has 13 caps at u-19 level and eight for the Scotland u-17’s according to the SFA website.
