Celtic’s SLO has taken an ESPN reporter to task over the away support that elite clubs like Manchester United take to away matches in Europe.
According to Mark Ogden only Manchester United or Liverpool could fill the away pen at Atalanta. On Tuesday a crowd of 14,443 were inside the Gewiss Stadium to see Cristiano Ronaldo snatch a draw for the visitors.
Had he carried out a little research the ESPN reporter would have noted that Celtic took over 10,000 fans to Lazio for a Europa League tie in November 2019.
Sadly Celtic fans have only had a trip to Cluj in December and Copenhagen in February since they watched their side complete the double over Lazio to top their group in the Europa League.
Which club carries the biggest travelling support in Europe?
Celtic- the bhoys
Man U- Ole at the wheel
Liverpool- YNWA
As well as a support from Scotland any Celtic European away match will find fans from a variety of countries in town with Germany probably the country that can muster up most Celtic fans.
A full away end at Atalanta. Considering lack of flights, Covid restrictions and Man Utd’s inconsistent form, it’s an impressive turn-out. Only the likes of United, Liverpool and Bayern able to do that time after time in Europe pic.twitter.com/YMnv3gE0Yu

“Senior writer for ESPN” And you cant even be bothered doing any research on travelling supports. More celtic fans have travelled to budapest than this. For a game they arent allowed entry to
