Desperate Ally McCoist has attempted to link his coaching ability with Antonio Conte!

One has won Serie A and the EPL while the other was runner-up in the Petrofac Challenge Cup to Raith Rovers.

Conte was announced today as the new manager of Spurs with Chelsea, Juventus, Inter Milan and the Italian national side on his CV. McCoist has TalkSport, Sky Sports and BT Sport on his CV following a disastrous but highly lucrative spell in management which featured defeats to Malmo, Maribor, Falkirk, Stirling Albion, Forfar and Queen of the South.

Comparisons between the two men do seem kind of tedious but undeterred on TalkSPORT this morning the radio presenter revealed:

When he was manager of Juventus, he came up, he had a tie in Glasgow and he trained at Murray Park. I was manager of Rangers at the time. It was fascinating watching him.

They had a training session, which I watched, it was great just to watch his Juve boys and how they would go about it.

He was also incredibly interested in everything, believe it or not, that was going on at our place.

I thought to myself: ‘This is a guy who wants to soak up all types of knowledge, he wants to learn’. Fascinating. I am really excited about the appointment, but if you asked me five weeks ago, there was no way that will happen.

The tie that Conte had in Glasgow was a Champions League last 16 match against Celtic. That match was on February 12, four days later McCoist led his side to a 4-0 win over Clyde at Broadwood Community Stadium in Cumbernauld.

After just over two seasons in the lower divisions McCoist opted to go on gardening leave at Ibrox soon after being drawn against Ronny Deila’s Celtic in the League Cup.

Conte may have been interested in some of McCoist’s training drills at Ibrox.

Super (McCoist) loses, so Super is in goal with his a*** oot. You’d think you couldn’t miss! If you hit it and miss the target, you have to go join them. Koji (Kenny McDowall) goes first, Koji shanks it!

We’re standing, me and Greegsy (Allan McGregor) are standing, and I said: ‘Greegsy, that’s our manager and assistant manager in the goal there with their a*** out, for next year’. We’re firing the ball at them!
