Tony Ralston has revealed his delight for his family after signing a four year deal to stay on at Celtic.

The defender joined Celtic as a hopeful 8-year-old, yesterday his infant daughter Mila was with him as his patience and determination were rewarded.

After making his debut in May 2017 under Brendan Rodgers it looked like Neil Lennon would end his career as Hatem Abd Elhamed, Moritz Bauer, Jeremie Frimpong, Kris Ajer and Jonjoe Kenny played at right-back.

In September 2019 Ralston was sent on loan to St Johnstone, during the 2020/21 season he made one appearance- when 14 team-mates had to self-isolate after the disastrous training trip to Dubai.

As the clock ran down on his contract Celtic picked up on the 12-month option they had to extend that, yesterday that was upgraded to the real deal through to June 2025 on a par with the rest of Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

My family have been with me since day one, supporting me through all of the ups and downs of being a footballer. My little girl is a massive part of my life and she’s able to be here on a special day as well.

What I do now moving forward is for her. It gives you the extra motivation. To have this moment with them is special.
