Ange Postecoglou was happy to leave the boardroom and the Celtic AGM behind to return to Lennoxtown yesterday.

The hoops boss sat through two hours of business-talk spiced up by fan passions as he made his first appearance at a Celtic AGM.

Postecoglou wasn’t asked to speak or questioned during Wednesday’s meeting but was given a warm round of applause when introduced at the podium with a pre-recorded interview well received.

Thursday he was back at his side of the business, catching up with hamstring injuries and the toll taken by international duty.

Tom Rogic and Carl Starfelt look like missing out at Hampden tomorrow but fortunately the internationalists appear to have returned uninjured.

Reflecting on his day with the suits, Postecoglou told the Daily Record:

I’m a football manager, mate, my AGM and my boardrooms are the training pitch and every match day. The people in charge got some feedback at the other day – I get that on a weekly basis.

That’s okay. Did I get an easy ride at the AGM? Well, if I get it wrong on Saturday, who do you reckon will get the easy ride?!

Like I said, we all have different AGMs, mine is every match day. That’s where I’m held accountable and rightly so.

Tomorrow’s match begins what could well be a make-or-break spell in Celtic’s season with 12 matches scheduled up to an including the January 2 Glasgow derby.

Matches against Bayer Leverkusen and Real Betis may provide a barometer on Celtic’s progress since July but victories in domestic matches will be where Postecoglou and his players are judged.

It would be a treat if we qualified with some more decent results in the EL but truth is I don’t care so much for that this season. Its the league that matters first and foremost so lets get it done. If there’s no more slipups before the New Year then I think we’ll be right in the running especially with a long awaited victory over the rankers. Scum on the run. HH
