Celtic’s interest in the Europa League ended in Leverkusen but it was a failed campaign with plenty of highlights including eight goals away from home.
Jota’s pass for Kyogo Furuhashi’s opener at home to Ferencvaros can be replayed time and time again while the nerve involved in Josip Juranovic’s penalty in Leverkusen will be hard to better.
While the goals were reigning in at one end there were problems at the other but unlike last season Celtic tumble out of the competition with a goalkeeper.
Vasilis Barkas, Scott Bain and Conor Hazard played in last season’s disastrous campaign but this year the gloves have been exclusively worn by Joe Hart.
The 34-year-old is no longer in his peak Manchester City form but as Moussa Diaby discovered last night the instinct and will-to-win remain.
After parrying a shot it looked like Diaby just had to walk the ball into the net but Hart found an extra spring to smother himself over the loose ball as the Leverkusen striker wondered what had happened. Just like shocked viewers watching on telly.
Leverkusen did find the net twice in the last 10 minutes but with attention now on domestic matters Celtic do have a dependable keeper to call on for the packed December schedule.
One of the best bits of goalkeeping you’ll ever see. Take a bow Joe Hart???

Was always praised for his recovery speed when in England. Brilliant stuff there

The biggest compliment I can pay Hart is that was type of performance we seen from Forster. Save after save from what looked a certain goal.

He didn’t deserve to be on the losing side

People forget how good he was for City. Became a whipping boy for England which affected his confidence. I’d love to see him do well for Celtic!
