Chris Sutton took a pragmatic view of Celtic’s costly Europa League win over Real Betis last night.

Any win over a team from one of the top five leagues ought to be celebrated but the thought of Kyogo Furuhashi and Jota sitting in the stand watching the seven matches upto and including the January 2 Glasgow Derby is the overwhelming emotion today.

A fortnight ago no-one was thinking over whether Liel Abada or Mikey Johnston would be the better option to play as a striker.

There were a number of positives to take from last night’s result and performance but with the squad rapidly shrinking it is difficult to see them right now.

Osaze Urhoghide, Liam Shaw and Liam Scales demonstrated that they can be relied on, Ewan Henderson provided a reminder of the neglected and talent that has been overlooked for 18 months by successive managers but it is hard to get away from the lengthening injury list mixed with the daunting fixture list.
