Ange Postecoglou is waiting to hear the extent of Kyogo Furuhashi’s hamstring injury.

The 3-2 win over Real Betis came at an incredible cost with Albian Ajeti and Kyogo both substituted with hamstring issues.

In a few exceptional circumstances, if detected early enough a hamstring injury can mean a fortnight out of action, four or five weeks are par for the course while a complex issue such as a tear can result in three months on the sidelines.

Carl Starfelt and Tom Rogic recently returned after a month out but Jota appears to be out for a few more weeks with James Forrest hopefully ready for a rapid return although he will naturally have to be monitored very closely.

Albion’s didn’t look too good so that is a problem for us because with Giakoumakis out as well we are really light in that area. Obviously Kyogo going off wasn’t great, I’m not really sure Kyogo’s one, the extent of it. We’ll get some information in the next day or so and we’ll go from there.

It looks like Liel Abada or Mikey Johnston will have to play as striker against Motherwell on Sunday, the first of seven matches that Celtic have to get through before they get a break on January 2.

There may be a chance of Giakoumakis returning from injury but watching last night’s match it looks like Kyogo and Ajeti won’t be playing again this year.

Absolute disaster if he misses a few weeks along with Jota. Going very well then this happens. Can’t even call on Ajeti. No Idea who will play up front. Terrible luck but at the same time why all the hamstring injuries, needs investigated.
