Ange Postecoglou was unable to provide any sort of timeline for the return to action of Chris Jullien.

In the last match of 2020, he suffered knee ligament damage when he collided with a post with the initial three to four month rehab regularly pushed back.

Jullien missed out on Celtic’s pre-season training camp in Wales but was included in the squad listed with UEFA for the Europa League group matches.

Boli Bolingoli was left out that squad but started in two SPFL matches while the six Europa Cup matches passed by with no sign of Jullien.

Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers have been the regular central defensive partners with Stephen Welsh as back up but beyond that Ange Postecoglou would have to drag in Nir Bitton or call up Dane Murray.

QUESTION: I wanted to ask you about Chris Jullien, obviously there has been quite a significant delay from when he was expected back so just an update if there is anything there?

Yeah, no, nothing really there, he’s still working hard. Obviously with a long term injury you’re going to get little setbacks at times, you need everything to run smoothly, it hasn’t done for Chris but he’s working in rehab, he’s out doing work with our medical team, with our sports science team and hopefully he’ll be back out there.

With the first anniversary of his injury less than a fortnight away it is concerning that there is no timeline for Jullien’s return.

Scotland in winter isn’t the easiest place to complete rehab with cold weather and little chance of playing bounce matches. Hopefully if Celtic get away for some warm weather training next month Jullien is fully involved.
