Ange Postecoglou hasn’t given any detail on the mass of Celtic’s absentees from today’s 3-1 win over St Johnstone.

Scott Bain, Conor Hazard, Tony Ralston, Greg Taylor, Callum McGregor, Mikey Johnston and Liam Shaw were all involved in the squad that faced St Mirren on Wednesday night but were missing from today’s match.

Vasilis Barkas and James McCarthy came into the starting XI, Joey Dawson made his debut coming off the bench while Ben Doak was listed as a substitute just over a month after celebrating his 16th birthday.

Celtic were able to field a recognisable starting XI but the bench was probably the most inexperienced that the club has listed since five or seven substitutes have been permitted.

Speaking after the match, The Sun reports Postecoglou saying:

The last couple of days have been pretty chaotic as you would imagine with everything that was happening. But we stayed calm through the whole thing.

We knew that this was just a different challenge from the other challenges we have had so far and we just had to get on with it.

To be fair, it’s been challenging from the moment I set foot here, it has just been different challenges. That’s what I keep saying to the players, all along we haven’t made excuses or felt sorry for ourselves.

Celtic now have three weeks to prepare for their next match with injuries to contend with and the possibility of transfer activity.

Kyogo Furuhashi seemed to suffer a reoccurance of his hamstring injury which will be the only fresh concern from today’s match.
