Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda have been named in the Japanese squad for a friendly international on January 21 against Uzbekistan.

National boss Moriyasu Hajime has picked a home base squad for the match which is being used as a warm up for World Cup qualifiers against China and Saudi Arabia at home on January 28 and February 1.

Hatate and Maeda have been strongly linked to move to Celtic when the transfer window opens on Saturday. Such a scenario opens up a few options.

The Uzbekistan friendly isn’t on a designated international date but with Tom Rogic and Kyogo Furuhashi likely to be involved at the international dates Celtic would be able to request postponements of their home matches against Dundee United on January 29 and the Glasgow derby on February 2.

The SPFL aren’t obliged to grant any postponements but it adds another twist to Celtic’s transfer activities which are expected to be heavily concentrated on the J-League following the success of Kyogo.
