After six wins on the bounce Celtic’s B side should be looking forward to rounding 2021 off with a derby clash at Ibrox on Friday.
A very youthful side, the bulk of them aged 17 and 18 have grown up fast in the rough and tumble of the Lowland League with Owen Moffat and Joey Dawson earning promotion to the first team.
Friday should have been a good test for the young Celts, second v third in the Lowland League table, each club with 48 points from 22 games in their first season at this level.
Last week the Ibrox club were all for sticking to the fixture list with just 500 fans watching crucial first team away games against Aberdeen and Celtic, strangely when it came to the Lowland League it was important that the game was played in front of as many fans as possible.
Friday’s match was only available to home fans, the Ibrox marketing machine had been in full flow for over a month with hospitality packages and match tickets going well.
Celtic’s B team will now have the weekend off as they prepare to host Caledonian Braves on Sunday January 9 at the Penny Cars Stadium in Airdrie.
