We keep cracking on- Celtic issue defiant message

Ange Postecoglou won’t be putting his feet up as he takes a three week breather between Celtic fixtures.

Since the start of July it has been non-stop for the Celtic boss with three international breaks allowing him to work closer with his non-international players.

Celtic made it through to the break by collecting the League Cup but dropped two points further behind in the title race with the first team squad badly depleted.

From Saturday new signings can be make with Celtic expected to be busy bringing in players from the J-League.

Postecoglou’s squad can almost be split in half between those out injured and the others who have been over-played but by the time Hibs visit Celtic Park on January 17 the manager will be hoping to have given his squad something of a makeover.

STV reports Postecoglou saying:

We keep cracking on. There is plenty to do. We’ve been working on it for a while, knowing that we needed to strengthen the squad during January. This gives us a chance – with no games – to push along with that.

Hopefully we get some good news in the New Year and bring some reinforcements in. It’s kind of been game-recovery for quite a while now. Just to be able to work with the players and work on our game and keep pushing and helping our game, it’s going to be a crucial time for us and for the players.

James Forrest, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Jota and Kyogo Furuhashi are currently on the injured list but could be fit for the match against Hibs.

With a trip to Tynecastle nine days later Celtic will need to hit the ground running after the break regardless of injuries and transfer issues.
