The Daily Record has welcomed in 2022 with news that Conor Goldson is poised to be offered a new contract to stay on at Sevco.

Readers of the Glasgow based publisher which covers the Record and Sunday Mail may remember a story from July which told them:

Connor Goldson has agreed to extend his Rangers stay by three years as he targets title domination for years to come.

Mail Sport understands the 28-year-old committed his future to the Light Blues this week with an announcement being held back until later next week.

The story could have been that Goldson is now free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club outside of Scotland with the offers from Ibrox not meeting his requirements.

Having missed just two matches in the last 18 months the former Shrewsbury starlet will be looking jealously at the wages bit part players like John Lundstram and Kemar Roofe are picking up.

Scott Arfield, Alan McGregor, Leon Balogun and Steve Davis are also out of contract in the summer with the deals for Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and Joe Aribo  running out in June 2023.

Not since August 2022 when Wigan swooped for Josh Windass has the Ibrox club picked up a transfer fee of more than £1m.

New Year and same old broken record from the media.

Are the Peeple running these papers so bitter and warped that they xannot write truthfully about what is going on in Scottish football ?

To continually do the same thing and make the same mistake is a sign of madness.

This club is in dire financial difficulty but do they write about it ? No they pay £25K to keep the bandwagon trundling down the road.

I suppose they hitched their horse to this waggon so long ago that fans of other clubs will no longer buy their papers anyway.

They are locked in a death spiral with this club.

I’m sure somewhere each of these papers have Peeple desperately digging away to attempt to connect any of these three players to a distant relative who committed a war crime in WW2.

That is the reality of our media.
