Calum Butcher is back in action and promising to play his usual game tomorrow against Celtic.

The midfielder has picked up seven cards in his last nine appearances with his yellow against Celtic at the start of December upgraded to a red by the SFA after they took a different view to Don Robertson for a brutal attack on David Turnbull.

That yellow card came just seven minutes after he came on as a half-time substitute on the back of a suspension for being sent off against Aberdeen.

Butcher helped United to a 2-1 win over Ross County in midweek and looks to be in line for a place against the hoops tomorrow.

Discussing his disciplinary issues, he told The Sun:

Will I change? It’s how I play —  on the edge of the game. I don’t want red cards because it’s not ideal, but it’s just the way I play and always has been. I was disappointed with how the Celtic one was dealt with on the back of my previous red.

But I won’t change how I play the game. It is how I play and it’s when I’m at my best. If I change, you won’t get the real Calum Butcher

United drew 1-1 with Celtic back in September but were well beaten at Tannadice last month when the hoops hit top form to win 3-0.

Euan Anderson will referee his fourth Celtic match of the season tomorrow with home fans hoping that he isn’t as lenient with opponents as Don Robertson was in the Tannadice match or last week’s costly Scottish Cup win over Alloa.
