Johnny Kenny has published a grateful Thank You message to Sligo Rovers after completing his transfer to Celtic.
As a native of Sligo he has come through the youth ranks to help the club into third place in the League of Ireland and netted them a significant transfer fee with the hope of more to follow as his career develops.
Scoring 11 times in 33 matches as a 17 and 18 year-old is good going with Kenny having the physique to cope with hardened professionals that don’t appreciate fast young legs trying to make an impression.
In November he scored for the Irish u-19 side in European Championship qualifiers against Bulgaria, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro which probably ensured that he would be moving on in the January transfer window.
Hibs had Kenny over to watch a match against Dundee last month but yesterday it was Celtic that he pledged his future to with a five year contract.
