Daizen Maeda’s first tweet to Celtic fans was swamped with replies from fans delighted by the striker’s arrival.
Google Translate was popular as hoops fans dabbled in Japanese to welcome their new signing to the club.
Since Maeda was first linked with Celtic in November fans have been doing their homework. You Tube showreels are the obvious starting point where a very pacy and aggressive striker can be seen at his best.
In contrast to the three other players that Ange Postecoglou has brought in from the J-League Maeda has only signed on loan but it seems that a fee in the region of £1.8m has been agreed between the two clubs.
After a spell in Portugal with Maritimo three years ago the new bhoy should have a better grasp of the demands of European football although Scotland and Celtic has some very unique characteristics.
With a Sauchiehall Street walkabout already under his belt Maeda will report to Lennoxtown today for training and an introduction to a new set of team-mates.
Celtic return to action in two weeks time against St Johnstone with Postecoglou having a lot more options for that match than he did a week ago against St Johnstone.
