Matt O’Riley wasted no time making his mark as a Celtic player.

After one week at the club he has a Man of the Match award and the expectations of thousands that he can play a key role in delivering the SPFL title to Celtic.

Following his transfer from MK Dons last Thursday his debut was delayed with a seat in the stand for the Scottish Cup tie at Alloa.

Watching three team mates taken off injured isn’t the best of looks but pitched into his debut in a new look side O’Riley looked a complete natural playing Ange Postecoglou’s style of play.

From his first touches it was clear that the former Fulham graduate could play, his cross for Giorgos Giakoumakis to score Celtic’s second goal was absolutely perfectly weighted.

There was a composure about everything that O’Riley did with the exception of a decent chance in the second half that he shot weakly at Craig Gordon when he had other options.

With that baptism of fire successfully completed the new bhoy has lots to look forward to with close to 60,000 fans looking forward to welcome his home debut.

Its Let’s just give him the time he needs. It’s a huge change for the young man. He has the right manager in Ange but just give him time.
