Matt O’Riley is reported to be undergoing a medical this afternoon ahead of joining Celtic from MK Dons.

The midfielder would become Celtic’s fifth signing of the transfer window but after the publicity for Riley McGree no-one will be taking anything for granted until everything is signed off with social media interviews and announcements made.

O’Riley has made a big impression at MK Dons since moving from Fulham a year ago, getting his opportunity to play regular first team football and advance his international prospects.

There doesn’t appear to be any obvious Japanese or Australian link which suggests that Celtic’s scouting and recruitment departments have been busy in the English lower divisions with the club able to put an attractive proposition to the 21-year-old.

Late this afternoon Sky Sports reported:

Midfielder Matt O’Reily is having a medical at Celtic ahead of a move from MK Dons.

It is O’Riley, not O’Reily. Intriguingly, in World Cup year, they added:

O’Reily, who was an England youth international, moved to MK Dons last January after rejecting a new three-year first team deal at Fulham. He is also eligible to play for both Denmark and Norway.

Celtic’s midfield seems to be the focus of Ange Postecoglou’s transfer activity this month with Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi signing up. Ewan Henderson and Liam Shaw have both been sent out on loan.
