Irish League side Ards have snubbed an application from Nacho Novo to appoint Matthew Tipton as their new manager.
The former Raith Rovers and Dundee striker could have brought some glamour and media attention to the club but the board has opted for a 41-year-old journeyman striker who has recently managed Warrenpoint and Portadown.
Novo wound down his playing career with Glentoran in 2017 but has been unable to find an opening in coaching since hanging up his boots.
Some business ventures have been short lived with not much in the way of media work coming the way of the 42-year-old.
Ards are currently in sixth place in The Championship (Second Division), trailing leaders Newry City by 13 points and 22 ahead of bottom placed Queens University.
