Despite having a free weekend Celtic’s Scottish Cup tie with Dundee United will be played on the evening of Monday March 14 for Premier Sport.

Celtic’s possible involvement in European competition had delayed an announcement on the cup tie.

With Bodo Glimt putting paid to any more Thursday night fixtures it was expected that Celtic’s Tannadice clash would go ahead at some stage on the Saturday or Sunday.

The delayed date gives Ange Postecoglou an expected eight day gap between fixtures which will be welcomed as the closing stages of the SPFL Premiership gets underway.

Between February 27 and March 6 Celtic face Hibs, St Mirren and Livingston in the SPFL, full points from that run of fixtures will put the hoops in a very strong position with five of their last eight matches to be played at home.

Following the United cup tie Celtic are at home to Ross County on March 19, all cup ties are being played to a conclusion.
