Rocco Vata scored the only goal of the game as Ireland’s u-17 side beat Belgium 1-0 in a friendly at the Spanish training camp.
Beating Belgium at any level is a notable result with the 16-year-old Celt netting from a well rehearsed free-kick.
The combination of playing in the Lowland League on a regular basis mixed up with international football has really developed Vata’s game this season.
With pace to burn and an eye for goal he is a constant threat coming off the right wing and a talent that stands every chance of making the breakthrough long before his 20th birthday.

Rocco has been part of the Irish international set up since u-15 level with the u-17 European Championship Elite round coming up at the end of March against Portugal, Bulgaria and Finland.
Vata’s Celtic team mates are in action today at home to Vale of Leithen who they beat 10-0 earlier in the season.
