Aberdeen have announced the departure of Stephen Glass as manager- with two coaches also leaving Scott Brown appears to be the most senior member of the management team left at the club.
Yesterday’s Scottish Cup defeat at Motherwell was followed by ugle scenes where supporters hurled abuse at players as they made their way to the dressing room in the South Stand.
Less than a week ago Glass almost guided his side to a point against Celtic but Jota netted soon after Lewis Ferguson’s equaliser to push the Dons into ninth place in the Premiership table.
This morning the club stated:
Aberdeen FC this morning confirms the departure of manager Stephen Glass. Stephen has left the Dons with immediate effect alongside coaches Allan Russell and Henry Apaloo.
The Club would like to thank Stephen, Allan and Henry for their efforts and wish them the best in their future careers.
The process to appoint a new manager will commence immediately and a further update regarding the Club’s interim coaching team will be communicated shortly.
Sacking Glass is a major slap in the face for club chairman Dave Cormack who brought the former Hibs and Newcastle midfielder into the club from the relative obscurity of being in charge of Atalanta United’s reserve side. Aberdeen have a partnership with Atalanta.
Brown was a team-mate of Glass at Hibs and took up the offer of a player-coach role at the club as his Celtic contract ticked down.
With St Johnstone to be faced on Tuesday the former Celtic skipper could be in charge for that match.
Brown’s close links to the former manager could be a problem for Aberdeen as they look for a replacement leaving the possibility of Brown being in charge until the end of the season.
Former Hibs boss Jack Ross is likely to be among the names linked with the Aberdeen vacancy.
At the end of the January transfer window Adam Montgomery moved on loan to Aberdeen.

And they wanted rid of mciness as will, think that’s the ultimate case of careful what you wish for. I had a feeling when he left, it was a bad move on there part, and it’s turned out that way. Lennon looking for a job, he will be arguing with everybody, and blaming everybody but himself if results don’t go his way. I used to back in the day think it was because he was a Northern Ireland catholic, but so was Brendan, and Martin O’Neill, and they didn’t get that. Lennon a hot head.
I reckon Jack Ross will be a contender. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if you saw Lenny linked up with Broony again. That would be the best move for Aberdeen in my opinion.
