Callum McGregor believes that Celtic’s first 45 minutes in the Glasgow derby was the DNA of Angeball.

Since he arrived at Lennoxtown in June there has been a sense that Ange Postecoglou would do things differently, certainly to last season’s collapse under Neil Lennon.

In an early video clip from Lennoxtown the new manager stressed during a training session that we don’t stop with the game lasting 90 minutes he expected full focus and energy from first whistle till last.

Against Ross County and Dundee United that approach paid off with 10 men bouncing off the ropes to deliver last minute or stoppage time winners.

Celtic had 11 players on the pitch throughout the Glasgow derby with McGregor leading from the front as the Hoops took over on top of the SPFL Premiership.

Asked about ‘We don’t stop’ McGregor said:

That is his mantra. Ever since we came in for pre-season that is the way that he wants us to play and the challenge for us every day in training, every day that we get a chance to play in the matches that’s what we need to do and that’s what he demands. You can slowly see us building towards that. The first half performance (on Wednesday) was everything that he wanted.

By 4pm today Celtic could be four points clear at the top of the table but McGregor knows that it will require the same level of application today at Fir Park to achieve that goal.
