Giorgos Giakoumakis looks like going straight into the Celtic side to face Livingston on the back of taking part in three full training sessions.

The striker was missing against Hibs and St Mirren due to illness with Cameron Carter-Vickers and Callum McGregor coming up with the goals that have maintained Celtic’s four point lead at the top of the SPFL Premiership.

Having Giakoumakis to call on- most likely in the starting XI- will give Celtic a real focal point as they attempt to beat Livingston for the first time this season.

Explaining the position of the former VVV Venlo striker to The Express, Ange Postecoglou said:

He is fine. I made a decision on Wednesday that it was best not to push him, we had some options.

He trained on Thursday with the guys who weren’t playing and then trained fully today. No-one came out with anything from the game so it’s the same sort of squad plus Giorgos.

Albian Ajeti returned to the matchday squad against St Mirren in midweek which gives Postecoglou another striking option although the Swiss striker was ineffective when Celtic visited the Toni Macaroni Stadium in September.

Having Giakoumakis back for the remaining nine SPFL matches will be a major boost for Celtic with no firm timeline yet available for the return on Kyogo Furuhashi.
