Chris Sutton is never shy when it comes to a prediction, a headline or over exaggeration.

That combination makes him the perfect pundit as well as an ability to call out the issues that others prefer to shy away from to stay ‘in’ with their mates on the inside of the game.

Sutton has been creating headlines from his media role for almost a decade and is clearly the most readable element of the Daily Record.

Throw any sporting subject at him from Dementia issues to Dembele transfers and he’ll be straight back with his opinion.

At this time of the year the football Oscars start to get discussed, in typical fashion Sutton informed Record readers why Ange Postecoglou is already his Manager of the Year:

Don’t get me wrong. I like Gio Van Bronckhorst. He was a good mate of Henrik Larsson’s when we were all in Glasgow together playing and he’s a good guy.

However, having been so far ahead last term, this season should have been an open goal for Rangers.

Postecoglou took over Del Trotter’s three-wheeler while van Bronckhorst was grabbing hold of a Lamborghini.

There is still a very, very important month and a half of the SPFL to be completed before the trophy and Champions League ticket is handed out.

At this minute Postecoglou is the obvious candidate but no one knows better than the Celtic boss that the serious part of the season gets underway next Sunday at Ibrox.
