Josip Juranovic sat out Croatia’s 2-1 friendly win over Bulgaria in Doha today.

The Celtic defender played the full 90 minutes of last week’s 1-0 win over Slovenia but was spared another international call today as coach Zlatko Dalic rotated his squad ahead of a return to Qatar later this year.

Juranovic should be back in Glasgow at some stage of Wednesday refreshed after a few days of training in the sun and catching up with his international team-mates.

The former Legia Warsaw defender seems to have advanced his international claims since moving to Celtic but all thoughts of international football will now be pushed back as he prepares for a vital month with his club.

Juranovic made his Celtic debut at Ibrox in November but it will be a much changed side that he features in on Sunday as Ange Postecoglou’s squad attempt to take a bital step towards securing the SPFL Premiership title.

Callum McGregor are on the bench for Scotland away to Austria with Carl Starfelt among the subs for Sweden away to Poland in a World Cup Play-Off.
